Directed by Karan Johar, "My Name is Khan" was released on Friday.

"We are delighted with the performance and audience reactions across demographics. More so, because this is only phase one of the film release," Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios India, the Indian distributors of the film, said in a statement.

"In addition to the release across 45 countries, MNIK will be rolled out in a phased manner across 25 non-traditional markets from April onwards."

The film features Shah Rukh as Rizvan Khan who embarks on a journey across America to win back the love of his life, played by Kajol. It shows how, along the way, his personality touches the lives of many and inspires a nation.

Bipasha Basu

Zeenat Revisited, Bips Brims With Awe...

Bips is thrilled to smithereens. The dusky belle will enact a character modelled along the lines of Zeenat Aman's flower child role in 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna'.

Bips will essay a glam junkie from Goa who gets tangled with Telugu star Rana Daggubati in Rohan Sippy's 'Dum Maro Dum'.

"Zeenat Aman is my all time favourite," gushes Bips in a tabloid chat. "I hold her in high esteem and there can be no one like her."

Bips, though, asserts that 'Dum Maro Dum' has no striking similarities with the former Dev Anand helmed flick, except for elements such as gangsters, drugs and the fact that it's set in Goa. Role model, anyone?

Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik-Sussanne tweet love, admiration

Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and his wife Sussanne are a reclusive couple, but the duo has been quite vocal about their feelings for each other on social networking site Twitter.

'Friends, please welcome my wife, my friend, my lover, the coolest, the purest, the exotic Sussanne to Twitterland! Give love tweeple,' Hrithik posted on his Twitter page.

Sussanne, on the other hand, appreciated her husband's dedication to his work.

'So inspired when I see my Hrithik working.. (he) has the eye of the tiger.. no stopping till he gets it perfect and only because he loves you (the public) all too much,' posted Sussanne, who is daughter of yesteryear actor Sanjay Khan.

Hrithik was probably left embarrassed by his wife's shower of compliments and replied - 'Stop it Sussanne, stop complimenting me in twublic! But thanks, felt good'.

The couple got married in 2000 after dating each other for long. They have two sons, Hrehaan, four and Hridhaan, two.

Crippled Hrithik! Magnetic Relief At Santa Fe…

He's on a great footing in cinedom. Hrithik Roshan, now flying high on the pre release buzz of 'Kites', has put his best foot forward together with Mexican babe Barbara Mori. The tension packed release of 'My Name Is Khan' will also unveil the "first look" of the Roshan home production.

Most, though, aren't aware of the excruciating steps that Roshan Jr had taken to greenlight the flick. "I hadn't okayed a single script after 'Jodhaa Akbar'," reveals Hrithik in a newspaper chat. "I was suffering because of my knee problem. I was crippled for about six months and was on crutches."

The perfectionist performer was all set to decline the offer, but director Anurag Basu and his filmmaker father would hear nothing of it. "I was travelling around the world trying to find a solution to my knee problem," he bares. "I'd been to Finland, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York and China. I also tried alternative therapies, medicines and physiotherapy, but nothing seemed to work."

Two weeks prior to the canning of 'Kites', Hrithik zoomed into Santa Fe. And then… a miracle occurred! On the first day, his pain went down by 50 per cent and in the first week itself it had trickled down to about 10 per cent. And then.. the pain had vanished!!

"Santa Fe is surrounded by magnetic mountains and people from all over the world come there to get healed," gushes a relieved Hrithik. "It was destiny that we chose Santa Fe to begin shooting our film."

Shahid Kapoor

Shahid’s Tantrums

Shasha aka Shahid Kapoor has turned a new leaf. A new arrogant leaf. Reportedly, Shasha had been giving hell to the folks at the CINTAA (Cine and Television Artistes Association) show.

Firstly, he showed up a mere three hours late for the shoot. And once inside, he scooted off to his vanity van... where he was holed up for another hour.

After stepping out, His Lordship Kapoor told the organisers that he'd like to do his act... pronto! And when he was informed that he'd have to await his turn, SK vented his spleen calling them "unprofessional." This, when senior stars such as Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar had been cooling their celeb heels for over an hour.

And when the phenomenal moment arrived for Shasha to do his number (song number, that is)... he threw a tantrum riling against the "mediocre dancers" hired for the event!

Shahid and Deepika are love birds

After having faced failed relationships in their life, both Shahid Kapur and Deepika Padukone seem to be finding solace in each other's company now.
If the latest buzz is to be believed, Shahid Kapur and Deepika Padukone are currently dating each other. According to sources, the two were seen partying together recently and it's also known that Shahid is making frequent trips to Deepika's Bandra home these days.

After his break up with Kareena Kapoor, Shahid has been linked to many actresses like Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan. Now, Deepika is the latest and hottest of the lot in his life. Deepika's story is no different, after her break-up with Ranbir Kapoor; it seems she's also looking for a new companionship.

So, the secret has got bust. Let's hope the new love birds have a lasting affair of their life this time around.

Vidya Balan

Husain finds new muse in classy Vidya

s Vidya Balan M. F. Husain's latest muse? Well, it looks like she has captured his imagination.
Vidya is a strong contender for the lead role in the artist's upcoming comedy film, which is expected to start early next year.
Among the current Bollywood beauties, it's Vidya who has impressed Husain the most, claims an entertainment portal. He has stated that the film has three female characters. ' And I think Vidya could play them all,' he said in Dubai.
For those who came in late, Husain has already directed a couple of films - Gaja Gamini in 2000 and Meenaxi: Tale of 3 Cities four years later. Both his films, tagged as arthouse cinema, failed to work at the box office.
The artist has said since he has already attempted a classical film - Gaja Gamini - and a contemporary one - Meenaxi: Tale of 3 Cities - he now wants to experiment with comedy. He is still writing the script.
If Husain casts Vidya, she will join the list of his favourites. It was Madhuri Dixit who first caught his imagination after the 1994 blockbuster - Hum Aapke Hain Kaun.
In fact, Gaja Gamini was made as a tribute to Madhuri. But as her magic slowly vanished, Tabu entered his canvas. Quite predictably, she was the star of Meenaxi: Tale of 3 Cities . After Tabu, Amrita Rao impressed Husain with Vivah . He watched the film many times and even announced an exhibition around Amrita.
The artist even went to the extent of calling her ' the ideal woman of today with Indian values intact'. But unlike Madhuri and Tabu, Husain never announced a film with Amrita. So, it remains to be seen if Vidya manages to bag an offer.
Coming back to Husain, the artist found Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots - the last film he watched - brilliant. ' It is commercial and yet very pure,' he told a website on the sidelines of an exhibition of his collection in Dubai recently.
In the online interview, Husain said he enjoyed filmmaking more than painting. ' The only drawback is that it is expensive,' he said.
Vidya, on her part, is going places.
After grabbing many trophies for Paa , she has now joined the elite club of speakers at the Wharton School in the US. Others on the panel were the likes of Anil Kapoor and Shankar Mahadevan.
Vidya was invited to speak about the globalisation of mainstream Indian cinema.
On the work front, she is busy shooting for Rajkumar Gupta's No One Killed Jessica, based on the murder of model Jessica Lall in 1999.

Aamir Khan's

After SRK, Aamir basks in Berlin glory. His home production ‘Peepli Live’ gets fab reviews, prompting a release in Germany.

Following its successful European premiere at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, Aamir Khan produced 'Peepli Live' will be released in Germany alongwith India.

Mumbai-based UTV pictures, which has the distribution rights of the Anusha Rizvi directed movie, has reached a deal with the Cologne-based Rapid Eyes Movies for the release here with German sub-titles in August.

The German company has also bought the home video rights for the film. "Simultaneous to its Indian release, 'Peepli Live' will also be released in Germany. The film could not be released in India earlier as we had to rush for the Sundance Film Festival," Rizvi told PTI.

The debutante director said that it was a great honour for her film to be screened in the Berlinale Special section, the second highest festival slot after the competition section. 'Peepli Live' is the second Indian film to get this privilege after Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Om Shanti Om' was shown in this programme two years ago.

"I am thrilled by the enthusiastic reception given to the film by the Berlin Film Festival audience. Their response exceeded my expectations," Rizvi said. The film is about two destitute farmers in an Indian village facing the risk of losing their land for failing to repay their bank credit. When one of them announces his decision to commit suicide so that his family can claim a government support, his house is soon besieged by TV reporters, politicians, police, gawkers and businessmen.

Aamir slams Chetan Bhagat

An upset Aamir Khan has spoken out against author Chetan Bhagat, on whose novel the star's latest blockbuster '3 Idiots' is based, accusing him of trying to take away the credit from the film's scriptwriter.

"He is trying to take away the credit from the film's writer Abhijat Joshi, which I am very upset about. It is an attempt on his part to try and take the credit away from the person who has actually worked on the script. It's very unfortunate. There should not be any confusion to anyone that Abhijat is our film's writer," Khan told reporters here last night.

Bhagat had earlier accused the film makers of "playing" with him and not giving him adequate credit in '3 Idiots' based on his bestseller 'Five Point Someone'.

The actor said the film makers were honest in their agreement with the novelist and had given him his due credit in the film.

"But in my opinion the credit should be given to Abhijat. For three years, this man has worked on the script. Nobody knows him, but Chetan is a big star," he added.

Recalling that Bhagat had once admitted to him that the film was very different from the book, Khan said, "Now the film has become successful so he is trying to get some publicity. It's very unfortunate".

"Abhijat has written the script and Raju Hirani worked on it. Raju and Abhijat took the idea from Chetan's book. The starting point is 'Five Point Someone', but after that the script has changed entirely," he said.

In his blog yesterday, Bhagat had written that he had been silently grappling with the issue for the past two years.

"I knew they had played with me, and that 'based on a novel by credit, which they were legally bound to give would be hushed away at the end with the clear intention of making sure people miss it," he said.

The novelist has alleged that, contrary to what the makers have said, much of the film is from his book.

"The setting, characters, plot, dramatic twists and turns, one-liners, theme, message almost all aspects that make the story are from FPS. Yes, there are some changes, any adaptation requires that but it is no way an original story," he claimed.

Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, '3 Idiots' has created a box-office history by collecting Rs 175 crore just days after its release on the Christmas day, making it one of the biggest opening for a Hindi film this decade.

Now Hirani says chetan is lying

03/01/10

The ongoing 3 Idiots credit controversy turned into a full blown war on Saturday with director Rajkumar Hirani accusing author Chetan Bhagat of "unnecessary slandering in public". Hirani also maintained that 3 Idiots was not a copy of Bhagat's bestseller Five Point Someone and that the filmmakers have bought the rights of the book.

"We legally purchased the rights of the novel, with complete authority to alter the text to suit the screen. We have always said that if we had not read the book we wouldn't have made the film. But it must be remembered that the screenplay that has evolved from the book is very different from the book and has a life of its own," Hirani said.

Hirani also rubbished Bhagat's claims that he wasn't shown the final script. "I gave him a four-hour narration of the script and he even signed a non-disclosure agreement which all actors, technicians and people working on the film sign upon reading the script so that details of the script don't go out."

In a press meet in Mumbai, Hirani distributed copies of the legal contract and a non-disclosure agreement signed by Bhagat on September 1, 2005 and October 3, 2007, respectively. In the legal contract between Vinod Chopra Films and Bhagat, it is mentioned that 'It shall be obligatory on the part of the producer to accord credit to the author in the rolling credits... as under — Based on the novel Five Point Someone. "We've followed the legal contract and given him credit in the film's rolling credits. The agreement was signed in September 2005. If he (Bhagat) had any issue with credits or money given to him, why did he wait for more that four years to respond? Most importantly, why wait till one week post release," Hirani said.

Meanwhile, Bhagat still maintains that the filmmakers have snatched away his story credit. "How can they call it an original story and give story credit to Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi right upfront and hide mine totally? It's an adaptation. The people who have done that have adapted my story, not written a new one. Maybe they can be co-credited for story, but how can they exclude me," he said.

While the writer feels "deeply hurt" with the attitude of the filmmakers he insists that he won't take them to court. "Let them win awards for my story. I am highlighting the issue so that it doesn't happen to other authors. I won't take them to court," he said.

The credit row surfaced after Bhagat posted on his blog that "70 per cent" of 3 Idiots is based on his book and therefore he should have got a more prominent credit. The issue escalated on Friday evening when producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra lost his cool at a press meet in Delhi where he told mediapersons to "just shut up" with the questions regarding the credit issue. A day later, a visibly chastened Chopra apologised for his behavior. "I saw myself on TV and saw how I was shouting 'shut up! shut up!' like an animal. That was complete nonsensical behaviour! After making such a good movie and after doing such a good work, I did such a shameless behaviour for which I am deeply sorry," Chopra said.

So, recently, when they were in the country for an official trip, the first family of Japan expressed their desire to meet Deepika Padukone. Kareena is the Style Diva

Whether you hated her movies in 2009 is immaterial to the fact that Kareena Kapoor was one of the most talked about fashionistas of the year. Of course, nothing can compare to the attention paid to her wardrobe in Kambakkht Ishq, where the actor, in her minis and high heels was at her femme fatale best. tylist Aki Narula reportedly handpicked 50 dresses from various Milan ateliers and studios and has the actress wearing some of the world's top labels like Just Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana. And while her acting chops got a lot of attention in Kurbaan, the actress proved herself to be a style chameleon, making an easy transition from haute couture to ethnic chic - with crushed silk skirts, jamevar shawls and oxidised silver jewellery.
